Beachcroft secure a financial first with G2IS

Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, 17 March 2008 – Beachcroft, a leading national law firm is the first to benefit from the strategic partnership developed between G2IS and Rushton Electronic Solutions. As the first organisation in Europe to introduce Triple Card technology, Beachcroft are able to fuse the latest G2IS cashless payment technologies with their existing on site access control systems.

Working in three ways the card includes a Mifare read and write microchip which can control up to 16 separate applications such as printer access or computer log on etc. This aspect of the card also controls the G2IS cashless payment solution, allowing Beachcroft to utilise their card to pay for refreshments across facilities on all sites. Combining the Mifare read and write chip with the indala proximity chip the card can also be used for access control, allowing staff single or multiple site access. The third technological element is a magnetic strip, similar to those on credit / debit cards allowing Beachcroft staff to use the card on older solutions, such as access control systems which utilise the swipe card technology.

The triple technology aspect of the card means Beachcroft were not under pressure to upgrade any existing systems in order to utilise the single card technology across all sites, instead the card adapted to their requirements, taking into consideration the technology already existing across some sites.

Combining the latest technology with a Mifare read write chip and magnetic strip users are able to utilise the card for multiple functions across all allocated Beachcroft offices. “In moving our 450 Bristol-based people to new state of the art premises it made sense to look at how we could make the routine daily functions more efficient. When we found out about this triple card technology, involving Rushtons, who were an existing electrical contractor, it made sense to build it into our plans" said Michael Bothamley, Bristol Senior Partner at Beachcroft.

Gary Heath Managing Director at G2IS spoke of the future proof technology, “as Beachcroft’s requirements grow and new technology is introduced, additional applications can be included onto the card, creating a truly single card society”.
